Hellsing Ultimate OVA 1
Well, the club watched this last Uberfest, but I just felt like writing a review so everyone can know what to expect. So here it goes, if you’ve watched the series not much has changed. The artwork I feel is better, and much more detail has been added to the characters. Some scences have been added that make the OVA seem like something I haven’t seen before. For example, as Seras is lying in pain there appears to be a flashback with her parents, which hoepfully we’ll get to see more into it. The episode itself is just about 50 minutes and at times it feels as though things are rushed.
The episode starts out with a young Integra running from her Uncle after the death of her father. She runs down into the basement and finds Alucard in a prison cell. Integra gets shot and Alucard drinks the blood on the floor. Fast forward to the present and a wonderful sign to the city of Cheddar is covered in blood. Three cops storm a church and find a priest sucking the blood of some woman. The priest sees them and summons his ghouls (people he sucked blood from). Needless to say, the cops don’t stand much of a chance. Then Integra is seen within the police came and explains to the cops about ghouls and how vampires make them after sucking the blood of nonvirgins. Then she explains about how vampires can only grow in numbers by sucking the blood of virgins of the opposite sex. Seras is running away from the church and into the woods. It doesn’t take long for the priest to catch up and she is surrounded by ghouls. Just as Seras is caught, Alucard shows up and the ghouls to shoot the living daylights out of Alucard. The carnage begins as Alucard regenerates and attacks the ghouls, wiping them all out. The priest then takes Seras as a hostage and leaves Alucard with the only option to shoot the priest by going through Seras. As Seras lies dying, Alucard bites her, turning her into a vampire. The director then brings his weird sense of humor (weirder than mine).
The rest of the episode follows Seras as she begins her new life as a vampire, all the while being called “police girl” by everyone including Alucard. Seras’ first mission deals with two vampires going on a killing spree. She ends up having to shoot one of the vampires after discovering her new vampiric powers. Meanwhile, two Catholic priests talk about how vampires are their prey. And the one named Anderson is sent to England to deal with the vampires and Hellsing. Back in England, Alucard and Seras are taking out ghouls in a big mansion. Just as the two are finished cleaning up the ghouls, Seras gets nailed with about a dozen blessed blades. The Catholic priest steps out and it is revealed that he is Father Alexander Anderson of the Vatican’s Special Section 13, which deals with vampires. Anderson and Alucard begin their fight, with Alucard shooting Anderson in the head. Anderson gets up and the fight continues. The battle goes one with both of them showing what they have. Anderson eventually pins Alucard to the wall and decapitates him. Seras runs off with Alucard’s head, and Anderson begins his pursuit. Just as she gets cornered, Seras is given the chance to drink Alucard’s blood and become a true vampire, and being a wuss she refuses. Just as Anderson is about to make his attack, Integra steps in and breaks his weapons with her gun. Anderson’s attention focuses on Integra, and begins his assault. Alucard revives and Anderson finds himself outnumbered, to the point he withdraws.
All in all, I give this a 5/5. Despite the occasional feeling of scenes being rushed, Hellsing Ultimate is everything it said it would be. I for one, can’t wait to legally own it.
Preview:
Something tells me that Germany is involved, with pictures of a map with arrows drawn from Germany and the Nazi eagle. I’ll continue to write reviews for Hellsing when I have the time, but for now this is all I will do until I get more things up on the blog.

Frankly I think the OVA’s are far better than the Anime. It had it’s moments and all, but just didn’t capture the manga right.
The OVA really did things so well, the action and dialogue too.
I will say it did seem slightly rushed, but that feeling I think goes away after watching it a few times.

The ova’s were way better than the anime. The anime just didn’t follow the mangas and it was missing most of the humorous moments and that just made me want to cry. Plus Alucard is better portrayed in the OVA’S because he isn’t so cut and dry like in the animes. HELLSING RULES!!!!!
