Testing a New Idea

February 7, 2007 at 12:32 pm (airviper, anime news)

Ok everyone, with the start of a new semester comes new ideas! It’s not really all that new except for getting more stuff on the blog, but I’m going to test out doing a this week in anime news post every week, I plan to do this every Thursday/Friday so I’ll just keep updating this page until Thursday. So here it goes.

The Death Note manga made the Young Adult Library Services Association’s 2007 Top Ten Great Graphic Novels for Teens list and is the only manga on the list. Hurray for Death Note in America!

Now for some anime news:

Bandai Entertainment sent out a press release announcing that they have acquired My-Otome and Tide-Line Blue. The first volumes will be released in June and summer respectively. Well, for you fans of My-Hime and possibly My-Otome some new stuff will be coming your way.

For all you lovers of Hellsing Ultimate, the third OVA’s release date has been delayed. So now instead of it being released on February 9th, it will now come out in Japan sometime later this year. I know I’ll be sad, I was so looking forward to some good ‘ol Hellsing to usher in Spring.

Finalists for the First American Anime Awards has been released. Take a look at the page Anime News Network has to see the complete list. Going through the list myself, it seems to be very far reaching with old and new anime. My favorite, random award to me, is the Best DVD Package Design because… well who actually buys the anime DVDs now-a-days? Just kidding, other categories range from Best Actor all the way to Best Anime Theme Song. The funniest one to me is the Best Short Series category, because Hellsing Ultimate is in it and only 1 episode has been dubbed so far and the third OVA just got delayed.

Thanks Anime News Network and TheOtaku for the info!

Feel free to post comments, I especially want to hear if you think this is a good idea.
