Anime News for February 19-23

February 23, 2007 at 10:50 pm (airviper, anime news)

Geneon has announced licensing Karin and the first volume is to be released in May.

Blood + will be debuting on Cartoon Network on March 10 at 12:30 am EST.  I liked watching it as it was fansubbed and then stopped, so hopefully I’ll get back into the story…

Something else Cartoon Network related, Adult Swim launched a new interactive video player starting with the first episode of Trinity Blood with cast and crew commentary. Too bad I love Trinity Blood, but hate the voice actors…

The American anime inspired cartoon series Boondocks will be dubbed in Japanese.

Parts of the American Anime Awards will stream live on February 24th starting at 9pm EST. The full version will be aired on March 23rd on Anime Network.  I hope to not miss the online streaming and if I do… I won’t see any of it since campus doesn’t have Anime Network.  Sounds like we need to start a petition.

Tokyopop updated its rating system to the following: A for All Ages, Y for 10+, T for 13+, OT for 16+, M for 18+.

And now for something from the internet…

New York Yankees pitcher Kei Igawa is known for his Otaku tendencies… So much in fact that Sports Illustrated did and article on it. I’m not kidding on this one. He reportedly missed a team meeting back when he was playing for a Japanese team to watch the newest episode of Detective Conan.  Yes, I found this and have been talking about it ever since I found it… I like stories like this.

Thanks Anime News Network and Anime News Service for the info.
